[02:37:25] <Jug> where should I put my PYTHONPATH definations to get trac use it?
[02:39:32] <misc> it depend on how you use trac
[02:39:40] <misc> for tracd, in the shell that run tracd
[02:39:48] <misc> for mod_python, in apache configuration
[02:41:12] <Jug> well I use cgi
[02:43:06] <Jug> I already have specified in trac.cgi but it doesnt seem to affect anything

[04:37:17] <tuxipuxi> the trac devs should implement a captcha like system instead of using error-prone IP black listing and such tings
[04:37:45] <athomas> it can be implemented as a plugin
[04:38:08] <athomas> captcha was ruled out because it is not accessible to text-only browsers or readers
[04:38:45] <tuxipuxi> captcha implemented as plugin, really? with plugins i cannot extend the UI of "New ticket", can i?
[04:38:51] <misc> then use a text captcha :)
[04:38:56] <tuxipuxi> text-only browsers? who the fuck is using that?
[04:39:14] <athomas> text captcha is useless against bots
[04:39:25] <misc> i know, it was a joke :)
[04:39:31] <misc> tuxipuxi: blind people, maybe ?
[04:39:35] <athomas> heh
[04:39:46] <misc> tuxipuxi: even if this is more screen reader than text based browser for most of them
[04:39:53] <tuxipuxi> bling people use trac for managing the development of software projects.. that sounds a little weird
[04:40:01] <tuxipuxi> s/bling/blind/
[04:40:06] <timonator> bling bling

[07:32:52] <dcj> does this seem like a reasonable way to use it?
[07:33:22] <dcj> (that is, in an unnetworked, 1-user environment)
[07:33:32] <dcj> or is it huge overkill

[14:50:32] <Eridius> goddamnit
[14:50:42] <Eridius> typosphere.org/trac just got spam-bombed last night more than I've ever seen before
[14:50:57] <Eridius> 50 total spam comments, with 45 of them being the same damn spammer (all on different tickets)
[14:51:03] <Eridius> plus 5 spam tickets
[14:51:22] <Eridius> I really hope this new spammer doesn't come back
[14:53:25] <Marlun> So I'm going to test Trac on a very old computer with only 64MB ram, what do you recommend, fastcgi or mod_python?
[14:54:20] <Eridius> prayer?
[14:54:37] <Marlun> prayer?
[14:54:47] <Eridius> that's my suggestion
[14:55:43] <Marlun> I do not need any good performance I just want to be able to test it.
[14:55:49] <Marlun> you don't think it will work?
[14:56:28] * LarstiQ defaults to mod_python
[14:56:43] <timonator> tracd

[15:22:17] <Marlun> I need to install subversion now and the corresponding python bindings, in the ubuntu repositories what should I install? subversion I get, but what are the bindings package called?
[15:22:50] <Marlun> And don't tell me to install the trac package because I want to install trac 0.9.5 :)

[19:19:41] <jjb_lyceum> how well does plugin installation via trac-admin work?
[19:19:51] <athomas> it doesn't
[19:20:01] <athomas> unless you mean webadmin
[19:20:28] <jjb_lyceum> yeah
[19:20:29] <jjb_lyceum> : )
[19:20:31] <jjb_lyceum> webadmin
[19:22:47] <jjb_lyceum> athomas: does is work through webadmin?
[19:23:03] <athomas> yep
[19:24:46] <jjb_lyceum> do certain directories need certain permissions, and if that's not the case will it complain?
[19:27:28] <jjb_lyceum> i'm having trouble getting accountmanager to work
[19:27:38] <jjb_lyceum> not sure if there's any documentation anywhere..
[19:37:00] * hlb has quit IRC
[19:44:29] <prologic> jjb_lyceum, ensure whowever runs trac has write access to your htaccess/htdigest files
[19:44:54] <jjb_lyceum> what will i see when it's successfully installed?
[19:45:31] <prologic> oh sorry just saw you were having problems with the accountmgr plugin
[19:45:46] <prologic> didn't realize you're tryin gto use webadmin to install plugins
[19:46:02] <prologic> it's actually just as easy to install them by hand

[20:32:09] <athomas> permission denied

[22:30:11] <pacopablo> but that's an all-or-nothing deal
[22:30:40] <pacopablo> if you want to really have it be only certain wiki pages, then you'll need to check out the security branch in the sandbox
[22:35:05] <pacopablo> well, it's bed time for me. night all
