[02:48:08] <cboos> #1744 was just spammed again... strange, type was set to 0, but that got in... cmlenz: do we use the latest rev. of the SpamFilter?
[02:49:20] <cmlenz> how would the latest rev help?
[02:49:32] <cmlenz> I think we're running 3696
[02:49:38] <cmlenz> i.e. the version with the comment fix
[02:50:04] <cboos> hrm, sorry ....
[02:50:26] <cboos> was thinking about the check for fields validity... but that's not committed yet ;)
[02:50:36] <cboos> forgot ;)
[02:50:52] <cboos> (and it will be in Trac not in the SpamFilter)
[02:51:01] <cmlenz> yeah
[02:51:34] <cmlenz> man, I hate that kind of "spam"
[02:52:27] <cboos> one thing I wonder about that: it's obviously not done "manually" but by a script, so why don't we get flooded?
[02:53:05] <cmlenz> because it makes no sense other than annoying us? :-P
[02:54:13] <cboos> well, I guess random spams on every tickets, at a rate of 10 tickets per minute or so would annoy us even more...
[02:54:35] <cmlenz> only that it's not spam
[02:54:42] <cmlenz> if the goal is to annoy us, sure
[02:55:07] <cmlenz> I think spammers are just trying to find ways to get through the filters
[02:55:38] <cboos> why don't they just ask? ;)
[02:56:01] * appel has quit IRC
[02:56:33] <cboos> I'm sure they subscribe to the trac-ml, it would be fun to try to correlate the IPs, if possible ;)
[02:57:24] <cmlenz> we still don't save the IP on ticket changes, do we?
[02:57:50] <cboos> right, this made me think about #1890 and the journal proposal... did you already check that?
[02:58:27] <cboos> (one of the possible benefits would be mass change removal by IP)
[03:00:09] <cmlenz> well, you get the same benefit if you just store the IP in ticket_change
[03:00:15] <cmlenz> but sure, I get the idea of the proposal
[03:00:54] <cmlenz> and it makes sense, although I'm not sure how exactly the "interprocess signaling of sorts" is supposed to work
[03:01:35] <cboos> through the db
[03:01:58] <cboos> the db maintains a unique sequence number of changes
[03:03:02] <cboos> each thread or process will know if it created the change or if it only has to get up to speed with changes made by other threads or processes
[03:03:45] <cmlenz> threads? I thought only processes
[03:04:38] <cboos> hm
[03:04:40] <cmlenz> so here's what's missing from the proposal IMO: how does a process know whether it created the change? and how/when does another process dispatch secondary events to change listeners?
[03:05:42] <cboos> well, it's not missing from the proposal, but it's perhaps badly explained ... let me check
[03:06:30] <cmlenz> maybe you should add some more pseudo-code snippets for those things to clarify
[03:07:34] <cboos> ok
[03:08:12] <cboos> I've got some more material locally, I'll update the page later on
[03:08:44] <The_Tick> hmm
[03:09:00] <The_Tick> there's a badfilter to check for comments that have css set to make the comment look empty right?
[03:11:15] <cmlenz> badfilter? I don't think Trac currently removes stuff like "display: none" from inline styles
[03:11:45] <cmlenz> which is just one way to hide text, of course
[03:12:24] <cboos> the "font-size: 1px" is a funny one too ;)
[03:13:36] <cmlenz> or setting the color to the bg color, which trac doesn't know
[03:13:52] <cmlenz> of course, those are still more discoverable than display:none
[03:14:07] <The_Tick> font-size: 1px is the one we got the most
[03:14:23] <The_Tick> I'm wondering if spamfilter should filter all that out
[03:14:31] <The_Tick> I guess that's what I was asking
[03:14:43] <cmlenz> that's something that should be done by the HTMLSanitizer, I think
[03:14:55] <cmlenz> but generally disallowing font-size is probably not a good idea
[03:15:54] <cmlenz> you can add "font-size:\s*1px" to your BadContent regexes
[03:16:09] <The_Tick> heh, if I could get that working
[03:16:19] <The_Tick> we've decided to disable anonymous permanently

[07:39:58] <DirkReiners> Hello everybody! I'm having a problem with the DoxygenPlugin 0.10 SVN: When trying to load it Trac throws an exception "ImportError: No module named html", which sounds a little weird. Has anybody seen that before? Any idea what the reason might be? Everything else seems to work fine in the Trac, so something elemental like html not working just doesn't sound right.
[07:40:48] <cboos> hi Dirk,
[07:41:06] <cboos> you certainly need to upgrade your 0.10 version
[07:41:26] <cboos> there was a trac.util.markup module which was recently renamed trac.util.html
[07:41:39] <cboos> (recently == last month, I think)
[07:43:29] <DirkReiners> Ups. I'll need to talk to my admin, there are other projects on the same system, but that's a good hint. Thanks, Christopher!
[07:45:15] <alect> evening
[07:45:27] <cboos> hi alect
[07:46:09] <cboos> the "c" in cboos stands for "christian", not everybody can be Christopher on this channel ;)
[07:47:20] <alect> heh
[07:47:21] <DirkReiners> Ack! Sorry, confused you. I think I'll go for Chris next time. ;)
[07:47:33] <cboos> that's a safe bet here ;)
[07:53:38] * chandlerc has joined #trac
[07:54:04] <cobaltsixty> cboos, reminds me "Highlander" a little. You know, "There can be only one..."
[07:54:55] <cmlenz> hehe
[07:54:58] <alect> heh
[07:56:26] * tolsen has joined #trac
[07:59:07] <cboos> ... remember who plays Highlander? ;)
[07:59:25] <cboos> -> another Christopher ;)
[07:59:27] <cobaltsixty> Christopher Lambert, right? Not Christian Lambert!
[07:59:44] <cobaltsixty> If there can be only one, this must be Christopher not Christian!
[07:59:54] <cobaltsixty> Oh Christ, this is getting pointless, heh.
[08:00:21] <alect> "Christ"...pun intended?
[08:00:28] <cobaltsixty> (You bet)
[08:00:48] <cboos> now that we are speaking about that, it's quite funny how many Chris* they are on the Trac mailling list, don't know if anybody else noticed....
[08:01:10] <cobaltsixty> You want to make a poll to elect the default mailing list Chris?
[08:01:17] <cboos> Similarly, check on the Mercurial mailing list for the names in Matt* ...
[08:01:48] * jpatota has joined #trac
[08:02:02] <cobaltsixty> That's why my father gave me a name with 'A': To be the first in class, at least in alphabetical order.
[08:02:18] <cobaltsixty> (sister too)
[08:03:03] <jpatota> is there some sort of minimum or recomended hardware trac should be run. Or if I had to upgrade something, what would cause the greatest improvement to trac
[08:03:20] * wasabi has quit IRC
[08:03:42] <cobaltsixty> jpatota, choose an apache version who plays well along mod_python. you'll gain a lot of performance from this integration.

[08:07:07] <shawn_work> * [mpm] (n=mpm@waste.org): Matt Mackall
[08:12:00] <hacim> it seems like my trac installation went wonky.... if I go to the main wiki page, its empty, and I have the error: No handler matched request to /
[08:12:10] <hacim> the log shows: raise TracError, 'No handler matched request to %s' % req.path_info
[08:12:50] * Ajaxamander has joined #trac
[08:13:40] <Ajaxamander> Is there any way to cross-import individual tickets from one project environment to another?
[08:13:52] <hacim> it seems like my mod_python was upgraded to 2.4 (from 2.3) due to the debian transition
[08:14:29] <Ajaxamander> Say, I have one project env. with 500 tickets, and a new one as well, and I want tickets 467, 489 and 491 from the old system to be in the new system. Is this possible without raw sqlite modification?
[08:18:37] <Ajaxamander> anybody even here?
[08:19:29] <hacim> I am, but I dont have an aswer to your question, I've got a question of my own :)
[08:19:52] <cmlenz> cboos: notification tests failing on markup branch?
[08:20:05] <cboos> hu, yes, a few ones
[08:20:28] <cboos> presentation related IIRC, no?
[08:20:37] <cboos> let me check
[08:20:51] <cmlenz> probably due to the template... I didn't investigate
[08:21:34] <cboos> right, it's in _validate_mimebody
[08:21:44] <cboos> (tknum, bodyheader[0]) = bodyheader[0].split(' ', 1)
[08:21:50] <cboos> ValueError: need more than 1 value to unpack
[08:21:52] <cboos> ...
[08:21:56] <cboos> such things
[08:22:21] <cboos> I'll try to fix that once the ticket notify template gets finalized
[08:22:35] <cboos> a propos: have you checked what I added to #M47 ?
[08:22:57] * JustinP has left #trac
[08:22:59] <cmlenz> yeah, looks good
[08:23:21] <cmlenz> the one problem with the TemplateLoader change is that the IncludeFilter is added anyway
[08:23:32] <cmlenz> I'll look into that, problem needs some design improvement
[08:23:51] <cboos> also there's one silly thing that got into the texttemplate.4.diff, it's the comment/endcomment thing
[08:24:05] <cboos> you'll need to remove that, is it won't work
[08:24:12] * klasstek has joined #trac
[08:24:17] <cboos> (I misunderstood the py:strip directive)
[08:24:25] <cmlenz> ah, right
[08:24:55] <cboos> why do you want to remove the include filter, btw?
[08:25:23] <cboos> Wouldn't it be good to support includes in text templates as well?
[08:25:38] <cmlenz> you're using tabs in some of the templates on the markup branch, btw
[08:25:59] <cboos> oh, tried not to... I'll fix that
[08:26:11] <cmlenz> IncludeFilter is basically an XInclude filter... that doesn't make sense in text templates
[08:26:23] <cmlenz> but I agree some other include mechanism is needed
[08:26:27] <cmlenz> an include directive, probably
[08:41:00] * Synapse has joined #trac
[08:47:08] <hacim> did something change in how trac deals with mod_python between 2.3 and 2.4? I can't get my environment setup right. I've tried every combination of "PythonOption TracEnv" and "PythonOption TracUriRoot" that I can think of, but I still get errors

[09:05:22] * a-priori__ is now known as a-priori

[09:11:06] <mescalito> hello there, is t here any trac dev I can ask a question?
[09:11:32] <mescalito> I am trying to remove BROWSER_VIEW or FILE_VIEW and two more permissiosn from anonymous and it says that is not a valid action
[09:11:58] <mescalito> they don't appear as valid actions.. but I guess they are used, as an anon user can browse the repository, something I'd like to avoid..
[09:14:23] * a-priori has quit IRC
[09:15:56] * barlas has quit IRC
[09:16:25] <matt_good> cobaltsixty: I don't need them to actually work I'm just trying to figure out how to get Trac to recognize them
[09:16:37] <cobaltsixty> matt_good, oops.
[09:16:40] <matt_good> actually after a restart of Trac it's working
[09:16:53] <matt_good> but I didn't think a restart was necessary for the InterWiki stuff
[09:17:32] <matt_good> cboos: has a restart normally been necessary?
[09:18:00] * chandlerc has joined #trac
[09:28:26] <cboos> matt_good: about the skype stuff, I'm checking now...
[09:29:30] <cobaltsixty> matt_good, mod_python tends to agressively cache stuff in memory, right?
[09:29:49] * cobaltsixty needs to take a better look at mod_python. Shame on me. Doing too much Java lately. :(
[09:30:09] <cboos> ah right ...
[09:30:40] <cobaltsixty> cboos, trac have a twisted-based standalone mode, right? perhaps could be a reasonable test environment, right?
[09:31:12] <cboos> cobaltsixty: a reasonable test environment would rather be tracd ...
[09:31:34] <matt_good> cobaltsixty: I'm using tracd for testing
[09:32:01] <cobaltsixty> hm... cboos, does tracd uses eggs and other plugin engines alike?
[09:32:35] <cboos> tracd is a full-featured web front end, yes
[09:32:43] <cobaltsixty> cboos, sorry, i thought tracd used twisted. which engine does use for http?
[09:33:02] <matt_good> it uses the BaseHTTPServer module
[09:33:11] <matt_good> which is included with Python
[09:33:18] <cobaltsixty> batteries included.
[09:33:50] <cobaltsixty> cboos, just a curiosity: would tracd benefit a lot from using twisted as a backend instead of BaseHTTPServer?
[09:34:37] <cboos> no idea ;)
[09:34:38] <matt_good> well, part of the purpose of tracd is to provide a server with minmal dependencies
[09:35:11] <matt_good> there should be a WSGI implementation for Twisted that you could use to hook Trac into it
[09:35:33] <cobaltsixty> matt_good, yes, I agree. But a standalone-but-high-performance-mode would sure give trac a good userbase. For example, at work we just installed apache because we needed trac and mod_python.
[09:36:06] <cobaltsixty> (later we became fans of archmage, http://archmage.sourceforge.net/)
[09:37:02] <cboos> well, tracd is quite performant...
[09:39:01] <cboos> matt_good: I actually managed to get the skype: link working, but the "refresh" of the InterWiki map is somewhat weird... investigating further...
[09:39:36] <matt_good> cboos: yeah, the "skype skype:" line is working here too, but I was expecting it to take effect immediately
[09:40:03] <matt_good> it'd be good to document that you can use the InterMapTxt to add new protocols to recognize
[09:40:21] * Jippi has left #trac
[09:40:21] <cboos> right, after fixing that refresh bug ;)
[09:41:40] <matt_good> cboos: so is Emacs happy it didn't have to touch ClearSilver again?
[09:41:58] <cboos> ok, need to drive home ... I'll look into that later
[09:42:13] <cboos> he, actually it still has to open them, in order to read them for the migration...
[09:42:28] <cboos> but he/it refuses to edit them :)
[09:43:01] <matt_good> cboos: it didn't look like you had started patches on those tickets I snagged, so I figured I'd knock them out to get us a little closer to a release
[09:43:41] <cboos> talking about #3679 ?
[09:44:10] <matt_good> there were a couple small tickets that had your name on them which I fixed last night
[09:44:17] <cboos> ah!
[09:44:59] <cboos> right, no problem with those, I flagged them as mine as I felt like I could/should do them, but wasn't in a hurry to do so...
[09:45:23] * aqeeliz is now known as barlas
[09:45:24] * Thanatermesis has joined #trac
[09:46:50] <cboos> so now I really have to go, tty later
[09:47:09] <matt_good> ok
[09:47:51] <matt_good> cobaltsixty: I'm not actually sure how Twisted would handle Trac, since Trac expects to process each request synchronously
[09:48:33] <matt_good> they may have some way to keep it from blocking while Trac is processing, but I don't know
[09:49:05] <pacopablo> cobaltsixty: why not just use twisted + WSGI + trac ?
[09:50:27] <cobaltsixty> pacopablo, I must admit I've been away from python coding for a while. Therefore, I'm just curious and not even arguing the validity, ok? :)

[09:51:15] <pacopablo> cobaltsixty: as twisted + WSGI + trac already works, I would submit that that's the proper way to do it :)
[09:51:38] <pacopablo> the twisted project uses trac that way
[09:51:38] <matt_good> pacopablo: are there people using that setup?
[09:51:45] <matt_good> oh, of course

[10:03:27] <Mr_You> hi
[10:04:04] <Mr_You> I'm trying to decide if I use Trac with PostgreSQL or continue to use sqlite.
[10:04:13] <Mr_You> or if its difficult to move from one to the other.
[10:04:31] <pacopablo> it's not "easy" to move from one to the other
[10:04:37] <pacopablo> but not impossible
[10:04:44] <pacopablo> I prefer PostgreSQL
[10:05:00] <pacopablo> but that's also because I love PostgreSQL
[10:05:30] <pacopablo> really depends on your needs and what you are comfortable with
[10:05:34] * cobaltsixty once even commited a contrib on PostgreSQL :)
[10:05:50] * cboos has quit IRC
[10:05:59] <Mr_You> I love PostgreSQL too, but we have yet to see how much of Trac we're going to actually use. We needed a wiki and I'm trying to point out the other benefits of trac.
[10:06:38] <Mr_You> but I work with a lot of inexperienced folks, totally unfamiliar with bug tracking, etc.
[10:06:49] <cobaltsixty> Does trac support any other backend besides sqlite and postgresql?
[10:07:01] <Mr_You> mysql support is "experimental"
[10:07:09] <pacopablo> if you're going to use more than one Trac instance, and you want to have the remote possibility of writing queries across them all, then use PostgreSQL with schemas
[10:07:31] <pacopablo> if you're only ever going to have one trac use SQLite
[10:08:00] <Mr_You> well we have one trac with multiple projects.. I assume you don't mean projects when you say instance?
[10:08:04] <pacopablo> if you're just trying Trac out, use SQLite and then migrate if/when it becomes something bigger
[10:08:11] <cobaltsixty> btw, where to fetch tracforge? I'm starting my third trac setup, I guess it's time for tracforge.
[10:08:21] <pacopablo> trac-hacks.org
[10:08:27] <cobaltsixty> thanks.
[10:08:37] <cobaltsixty> I really love trac-hacks, specially trac2email
[10:08:41] <pacopablo> Mr_You: no, though one can have one trac environment for each project
[10:08:47] <Mr_You> yeah, I'm just wondering if it will be difficult to migrate... I guess I'll stick with sqlite for now.
[10:09:05] <pacopablo> Mr_You: hopefully in a couple weeks, I'll have a script that will do the migration
[10:09:09] * ralreegorganon has quit IRC
[10:09:13] <cobaltsixty> Mr_You, trac-admin has some tools for migration/backup.
[10:09:22] <cobaltsixty> (or is it svnadmin?)
[10:09:29] <pacopablo> as soon as I finish my current project that's next on my todo list
[10:09:34] <pacopablo> cobaltsixty: there is the wiki dump
[10:09:51] <cobaltsixty> oh, right.
[10:09:58] <pacopablo> but for a full migration from sqlite to postgresql it's a bit harder
[10:09:58] <Mr_You> we also have a developer who took it upon himself to start his own offsite mediawiki (yay) and so he wants to be able to dump that into Trac.. I know there is a script, but we'll see.
[10:10:00] * ralreegorganon has joined #trac
[10:14:25] * a-priori has joined #trac
[10:16:55] <cobaltsixty> Mr_You, omg. looks a helluva task.
[10:27:15] * chandlerc has quit IRC
[10:28:30] * blue_flashlight has joined #trac
[10:29:02] <blue_flashlight> is there a sane way to move a trac installation to a different basedir?
[10:29:34] <blue_flashlight> I didn't find anything on the web about this
[10:30:06] <pacopablo> blue_flashlight: mv /path/to/trac/env /new/path/to/trac/env
[10:30:29] <pacopablo> blue_flashlight: then you'll have to adjust your TRAC_ENV to point to the new locaiton
[10:30:33] <pacopablo> er, location
[10:31:48] <hacim> can someone tell me what I have wrong in my apache config for trac? http://pastebin.ca/164470
[10:32:17] <hacim> when I load the page, I get: No handler matched request to
[10:32:44] <hacim> the tickets and source are there, but the wiki is... missing
[10:34:13] <pacopablo> do you have any plugins loaded?
[10:34:29] <pacopablo> what does your default_handler option look like in your trac.ini?
[10:34:46] <pacopablo> @faq logging
[10:34:46] <evil_twin> pacopablo: "logging" is http://projects.edgewall.com/trac/wiki/TracLogging <-- Enable debug logging to file, ensure your environments log/ directory is writeable by your web server user, check for errors.
[10:34:56] <pacopablo> @faq ini
[10:34:56] <evil_twin> pacopablo: "ini" is See http://projects.edgewall.com/trac/wiki/TracIni for details on the Trac configuration file.
[10:35:51] <hacim> pacopablo: I do have some plugins, default_handler = TagsWikiModule
[10:36:10] <hacim> I can try and disable them all to see if things work correctly again
[10:37:02] <pacopablo> it probably will
[10:37:10] <hacim> I assume I can disable them by just moving them out of the plugins directory and restarting
[10:37:13] <pacopablo> check the log and make sure the tags plugin is loading
[10:37:45] * thansen has quit IRC
[10:38:12] <pacopablo> hacim: yes, or in the [components] section say: tractags.* = disabled
[10:38:41] * thansen has joined #trac
[10:39:04] <hacim> pacopablo: I have enabled in there
[10:39:25] <hacim> maybe I need to re-install all the plugins because the python rev changed
[10:39:55] <hacim> I dont see the tags plugin being loaded in the logs
[10:39:55] <pacopablo> does the log say anything?
[10:40:02] <pacopablo> that's a problem :)
[10:40:21] <hacim> the log does say something
[10:40:34] <hacim> one second while I paste it in a pastebin
[10:41:42] <hacim> well, its just a python traceback and the end error being: TracError: No handler matched request to
[10:41:51] <hacim> 14:21:51 Trac[__init__] ERROR: No handler matched request to
[10:42:35] <pacopablo> try reinstalling the tags plugin
[10:42:41] <hacim> ok
[10:42:55] * Ajaxamander has quit IRC
[10:46:00] <hacim> hmm, now I am getting Trac[__init__] WARNING: setuptools is required for plugin deployment
[10:46:06] <hacim> so I guess I should reinstall that
[10:47:31] <cobaltsixty> btw, shameless plug: if you blog and usually paste code, I published a tiny plugin for Windows Live Writer which does Syntax Highlighting for Source Code you Select, using the jEdit Syntax Highlighting Engine. http://www.leal.eng.br/mnemetica/2006/08/27/announcing-lighter-for-windows-live-writer.html
[10:48:28] <blue_flashlight> pacopablo: I put a SetEnv option in my apache conf, but that didn't seem to do the trick- I do get the same error in my logs (set to DEBUG as the TracLogging page says to do) as hacim is getting (the '''No handler matched request to %s' % req.path_info""" message)
[10:48:38] <hacim> pacopablo: ok, I've got setuptools installed now, and the logs only show the 14:28:07 Trac[__init__] ERROR: No handler matched request to /wiki
[10:48:55] <Thanatermesis> http://paste.debian.net/12471
[10:49:11] <pacopablo> hacim: you set the log level to debug, right?
[10:49:13] <Thanatermesis> how i can make a vhost with this conf ?
[10:49:28] <Thanatermesis> for when, i enter on bugs.mydomain , points to my trac
[10:49:56] <pacopablo> blue_flashlight: any plugins you're using? and if so, do you see them loading?
[10:51:10] <hacim> pacopablo: yep: log_level = DEBUG
[10:51:45] <pacopablo> and there isn't anything else in the log?
