[00:00:36] <alect> haha
[00:01:09] <asmodai> alect: How you doing?
[00:01:15] <asmodai> matt_good_: I thought you were going to bed? :)
[00:02:35] <matt_good_> asmodai: it usually takes several false-starts before I actually get there
[00:04:17] <asmodai> Why is an Australian lover like a wombat?
[00:04:17] <asmodai> He eats roots, shoots, and leaves.
[00:04:19] <asmodai> Hah
[00:04:23] <asmodai> Having worked with Ozzies...
[00:04:43] <alect> anybody know if you can override attribute setting in javascript, ala __setattr__ in python?
[00:05:49] <coderanger> alect: Can you do that?
[00:06:43] <evil_twin> New news from t.e.o: Ticket #4907 (defect created): Bugg in ticket handler <http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/4907>
[00:07:46] <alect> that's what i'm asking :)
[00:08:01] <alect> you can't ask me back, that's not how it works!
[00:08:05] <asmodai> hahah
[00:08:43] <coderanger> alect: I don't that you can do things like that in JS
[00:08:53] <asmodai> matt_good_: the hippo race and vienna boy's choir ones rock ;)
[00:09:08] <asmodai> rofl
[00:09:11] <asmodai> I now get the drop bear ;)
[00:09:26] <coderanger> since object member access is the core of everything
[00:11:24] <alect> well, it would definitely be possible, it's just a question of whether it's actually provided as a facility
[00:11:30] <alect> it doesn't look like it though
[00:12:41] <asmodai> yay for meds
[00:12:51] * asmodai is walking less like the hunchback of Notre Dame by now
[00:15:38] <alect> what happened to you?
[00:16:33] <alect> i've pretty much got jsonrpc integrated with the (now completely misnamed) xmlrpc plugin
[00:16:58] <asmodai> alect: 8 years ago I managed, unbeknowst then, to damage my spine.
[00:17:12] <alect> it's just expressing the calls nicely in js that is slightly tricky
[00:17:15] <alect> asmodai: ouch :(
[00:17:23] <asmodai> alect: Got handled a few years ago by a manual therapist, said 2 spinal thingies were a bit misgrown
[00:17:40] <asmodai> alect: few days ago the same spot in my lower right back acted up, couldn't move at all on Sunday
[00:18:06] <asmodai> Thankfully these diclofenac meds work quite ok. Doc thinks either a nerve is stuck a bit or something inflammed with the muscles
[00:18:58] <alect> :\
[00:19:16] <alect> i have back problems as well. sucks a lot, so i feel your pain
[00:19:28] * otaku42 has quit IRC
[00:19:34] <asmodai> Guess being 1,94m tall (6'4") does help in some cases.
[00:19:56] <asmodai> doesn't
[00:20:26] * otaku42 has joined #trac
[00:39:47] * angerman has joined #trac
[00:46:16] * m_g has joined #trac
[00:52:04] <alect> woot!
[00:52:40] * klando has joined #trac
[00:53:13] <coderanger> alect: You should install the dropbear plugin on swapoff.org, just to make it feel more like home ;-)
[00:53:44] <alect> hehe
[00:53:46] <alect> @paste
[00:53:47] <evil_twin> alect: "paste" is http://paste.lisp.org/new/trac
[00:54:02] <alect> i might do that :)
[00:54:39] <coderanger> More than about 10 bears does make Fx grumpy though
[00:54:57] <alect> i'm not surprised
[00:56:08] <alect> this is the js rpc interface: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/1149/
[00:58:15] <coderanger> woot
[00:58:26] <coderanger> did you make that jQuery plugin or is that already there?
[00:58:36] <alect> i wrote it
[00:58:50] <coderanger> shiny :)
[00:58:58] <alect> jquery has $().ajax(), which made it much easy
[00:59:04] <alect> jquery rocks hard
[00:59:31] <alect> you'd have to be mental to use another js library after using it
[00:59:51] <coderanger> Its even more impressive given the size
[01:00:06] <alect> absolutely
[01:00:54] <alect> i have no real idea whether i'm doing jsonrpc correctly though
[01:01:12] <alect> but from the specs i've read, it seems plausible
[01:09:09] <asmodai> so jquery > mochikit and others?
[01:10:28] <alect> definitely
[01:10:44] <alect> well, tbh i haven't used any of the others extensively :)
[01:10:48] <alect> so i should just shut up
[01:10:54] <alect> but jquery is extremely expressive

[01:37:11] * asmodai grins
[01:37:57] <Macca> uhm.
[01:38:05] <Macca> how do i make the emails trac sends send formatted
[01:38:37] <Macca> when i receive them in gmail they look ugly

[01:44:25] <coderanger> Macca: Get a better email client (read: one that supports text emails)

[01:44:46] <Macca> it's actually my GHS account

[02:55:34] <TinoW> hm. any hints on good documentation of python-subversion? I mean useable examples or is trac the only example so far? Are there plans on making trac work with remote repositories as well?
[02:58:38] * Comradin has joined #trac
[02:59:42] <Comradin> hiho, I just installed trac on my webserver and imported a cvs project into my subversion, but when I try to access the source code, I get the following error message:
[02:59:52] <Comradin> http://pastebin.com/895170
[03:00:05] <Comradin> as it is too long, I posted it at pastebin
[03:00:49] <Comradin> I had a look into my trac.ini, but default_charset is set to iso-8859-15
[03:00:57] <Comradin> but the error message is something about UTF-8
[03:02:44] <Comradin> even changing default_charset to UTF-8 doesn't change anything
[03:05:55] <Comradin> damn, pastebin is very slow today
[03:06:05] * yure has joined #trac
[03:06:43] <asmodai> Don't use pastebin.

[03:06:55] <yure> hi. has anyone user timingandestimation plugin with trac? I would like to know how to disable some users from seeing management pages.
[03:08:24] <Comradin> asmodai: yup, on my way :)
[03:09:24] <asmodai> lisp.paste.org has a presence in this channel
[03:09:49] <Comradin> http://paste.pocoo.org/show/1150/
[03:10:18] <yure> there is no mention of permissions for timingandestimation on the plugin page
[03:15:14] <Comradin> what does trac store in this sqlite?
[03:15:58] <Comradin> looks like it is no utf-8 data in the sqlite data the system is trying to fetch from the database
[03:16:15] <Comradin> but from my understanding this is data that was written into the database by trac itself
[03:16:51] <Comradin> looks like the initenv run wasn't successful?
[03:17:58] <lisppaste5> Comradin pasted "utf-8 error message, sqlite" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/37810
[03:18:18] <Comradin> cool, love this feature :)

With just email2trac plugin enabled ticket submissions work fine and create in the database and notifiy component owner. With timing and estimation the ticket still creates but no notification is sent to the component owner. Any updates to the ticket or resolution creates emails fine its just the initial submission/notification to owner.

[08:33:51] <pacopablo> retracile: no, that's alect
[08:34:04] <pacopablo> dev: I did free up a little space on trac-hacks, though
[08:34:07] <retracile> Ah, confused am I. Ok. Well, it's back up again anyway.
[08:34:13] <pacopablo> but only about 18M
[08:34:23] <pacopablo> so I don't know how much longer it will be back up ;)
[08:34:27] <retracile> So it's a plugin or two away from dying again
[08:34:37] <pacopablo> hmm, something is eating up space
[08:34:44] <pacopablo> it's already down to 6.5Ms now
[08:35:23] <retracile> Hrm.

[09:01:46] <_mips_> omg my english is so bad today
[09:03:17] <slinberg> Anyone know the best way to restrict access to trac-admin on a multiuser Linux system? Setting up a new trac install, and right now any logged-in user can run trac-admin and overwrite each others' settings on a trac project.
[09:05:10] <_mips_> if you got root privs then you should set the owner and restrict the execution bit
[09:05:35] <slinberg> I can do that, but is that the only way?
[09:05:50] <_mips_> maybe ACLs
[09:05:51] <slinberg> I think it would be preferable if it could be done on a project-specific basis via the init file
[09:06:19] <slinberg> I was hoping there was a way to do something like "trac-admin myproj setadminpasswd foo"
[09:06:38] <_mips_> put the min different groups
[09:06:55] <_mips_> oops
[09:07:16] <_mips_> oops i meant create groups for each projects
[09:07:29] <slinberg> you mean unix groups? Or trac groups?
[09:07:34] <_mips_> and then set the writing rights for each project
[09:07:38] <_mips_> unix groups
[09:07:53] * _dmax has joined #trac
[09:08:05] <slinberg> ok, so basically the approach is to manage it with unix permissions, but there are no internal trac "admin" privileges for restricting access to trac-admin?
[09:08:29] <_mips_> well it will not protect from "manual" modifications
[09:09:06] <_mips_> it's better to fix the permissions directly at the source
[09:09:14] <slinberg> ok, thank you
[09:09:29] <slinberg> it's not actually a huge deal for me right now, just occurred to me as a possible security issue down the road

[09:12:36] <_mips_> well it seems to be sqlite related
[09:12:38] <bryanl> trac on postgresql is way faster than trac in sqlite i bet
[09:12:48] <retracile> _mips_: Can you try updating from svn again to make sure?
[09:12:55] <_mips_> yep
[09:13:39] * bryanl has left #trac
[09:15:17] <retracile> _mips_: hmm... I noticed the "fake-amd64" thing in the py-sqlite path... I wonder if you're getting a mix of 32bit vs 64bit weirdness. I don't know much about that, just an observation.
[09:15:32] <_mips_> same error
[09:15:51] <_mips_> well i have the same problem at work on HPUX
[09:16:04] <pacopablo> woohoo, no space left on trac-hacks.org again ;)
[09:16:08] <_mips_> but i can try on a i386 host if you want
[09:17:08] <retracile> pacopablo: Oh goody.

[09:32:54] <TPABKA> hmm
[09:33:14] <retracile> _mips_: Huh. I'm running out of suggestions at this point. :/
[09:33:27] <TPABKA> should i put anything into svn commit comment for trac to know that this commit is for that ticket?
[09:35:04] <thatch> TPABKA: I'm coming a little late... Trac will autolink anything you put in wiki format, so if you say "Fixes #123" it will link it; however you'll need to close the ticket yourself from the ui.
[09:39:00] <TPABKA> cool
[09:39:02] <TPABKA> thanks
[09:39:14] <TPABKA> i guess ticket:123 will work too
[09:40:18] <_mips_> finishing install on i386 soon so i could tell if i got it again
[09:40:24] <thatch> TPABKA: yeah, anything you could use in a wiki page will work
[09:41:36] * thatch is now known as thatch_away
[09:54:04] <_mips_> hmm looks like it will take a bit longer :)
[09:54:33] * dkg has joined #trac
[09:54:44] * Federico2 has quit IRC
[09:55:02] <dkg> hey folks. are y'all aware that http://trac-hacks.org/ is throwing errors?
[09:55:26] <dkg> or is there a better place to report this kind of problem?
[09:55:39] <dkg> looks like a partition filled up on that server.
[09:55:42] <_mips_> it has already been notified here
[09:55:50] <dkg> cool. sorry for the noise.
[09:55:57] <_mips_> no problem, you're welcome
[09:56:45] <mitsuhiko> alect: delete some logs :D
[09:57:16] <alect> hi
[09:57:28] <alect> th down?
[09:57:30] * alect checks
[09:59:24] <alect> weird
[09:59:30] <alect> no obviously large log files
[09:59:34] <dkg> df -h
[09:59:35] <dkg> ?
[09:59:40] <alect> O_o
[09:59:57] <alect> yes, there are 0 bytes free, but where is it being consumed
[09:59:59] <alect> du ftw
[10:00:17] <dkg> du -k /mountpoint | sort -n | tail
[10:00:33] <dkg> gives you the ten most-biggest directories.
[10:00:34] <alect> thanks
[10:00:41] <alect> i'm fairly sure i know that one ;)
[10:01:04] <dkg> ok, good. no offense intended; if you didn't i figured it'd be handy
[10:01:19] <alect> np :)
[10:01:26] <alect> slowwwww
[10:02:19] <mitsuhiko> alect: well. du is very slow
[10:02:27] <alect> no kidding
[10:02:45] <dkg> especially when the rest of the machine is thrashing about trying to use whatever space is left on the partition :/
[10:04:17] <alect> found the culprit
[10:04:38] <mitsuhiko> alect: svn?
[10:04:39] <alect> postgres log directory is 12GB
[10:04:47] <mitsuhiko> holy shit
[10:05:01] <mitsuhiko> alect: verbose log level?

[10:06:22] <alect> retracile: hah
[10:06:32] <alect> ironic, as paco set up the postgres server ;)
[10:07:22] <mitsuhiko> grrr
[10:07:34] <mitsuhiko> i wonder why patching func_closure isn't possible
[10:08:06] <retracile> alect: heh.
[10:08:18] <mitsuhiko> and you cannot create cells :(
[10:08:36] <mitsuhiko> so no way to add variables into a function automagically
[10:09:05] <retracile> alect: cboos made a couple of changes to the ticket-preview sandbox; they look good to me.
[10:09:22] <alect> ok...what were they?
[10:11:49] <retracile> 1) Set vs Change Properties for new vs existing tickets
[10:12:14] * tpollari has quit IRC
[10:12:28] <retracile> 2) deactivate the text field diff area in the change preview
[10:12:37] <alect> cool
[10:12:40] <retracile> For #2, I don't know enough to evaluate it well
[10:12:45] * tpollari has joined #trac
[10:12:54] <pacopablo> alect: I thought you turned on that loggin ;)
[10:13:03] <retracile> it's changeset:4941

[10:14:50] <alect> paco: np, shit happens :)
[10:15:19] <alect> mitsuhiko: what's paste.pocoo.org running on?
[10:15:38] <alect> it's kinda slow
