Plop: When trying to get a PDF version of some wiki pages I got a 'Trac Internal Error' : nicodeEncodeError: 'charmap' codec can't encode character u'\u2026' in position 10742: character maps to <undefined> |
| [06:44:33] |
<Rica> |
Any idea where I should start my "research" to fixc such error ? |
| [06:44:43] |
<coderanger> |
You can't fix it |
| [06:44:59] |
<coderanger> |
As is said in many places, the PDF plugins are not Unicode compatible |
| [06:45:17] |
<coderanger> |
You will need to convert all the text in question to a single-byte charset |
| [06:45:36] |
<Rica> |
doh... it's a pure html text.. I dont see any unicode in this page |
| [06:45:44] |
<Rica> |
... could it be another problem/error ? |

No |

one sec |
| [06:46:53] |

there is a lot of macro inside... but no unicode : ( http://trac.ogsteam.fr/wiki/OgsConverter/model_help ) |
| [06:47:20] |
<coderanger> |
2026 is a horizontal ellipsis |
| [06:47:50] |

Look at character 10742 and see if it is that |

checking |
| [06:48:49] |
<coderanger> |
In general you can check unicode points on unicode.org easily |

is there a way how i can separate macro arguments like [[help( foo, bar)]] and i can print just foo and then just barr rather than all args ? |
| [06:49:11] |

GreyGhost: Its just a string |

coderanger: Gotcha. I keep my numbers in order, so that works well by default. Is there any way to "close" versions, like you can milestones, so they don't appear in the list? I use numbers like "1.1dev" while version 1.1 is in development, then add a "1.1" when I release it. I'm loathe to delete a version because I don't want to delete info out of the db I want to reference later, but I don't want a version dropdown a mile long, either. |

joel: re-read http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracPermissions#PermissionGroups |
| [11:24:12] |
<joel> |
I did.. so how would I create a group called: CONTENT_EDITOR ?? |
| [11:26:40] |
<retracile> |
joel: You don't. You create a group called content_editor. From the link I just gave you: "Use lowercase for group names, as uppercase is reserved for permissions." |
| [11:28:50] |
<joel> |
ok..right. but still don't see the comand to creat the group. something like c:/> trac-admin.py c:/project create group content_editor ??? |
| [11:31:01] |
<BrianHV> |
the act of adding a permission to a group that doesn't exist causes the group to come into existence |
| [11:33:38] |
<joel> |
ah! so if I do: trac-admin.. [yada..yada] add bob content_editor |
| [11:33:40] |
<joel> |
that will create the group? |
| [11:35:07] |
<BrianHV> |
well, it's more that "add content_editor WIKI_ADMIN" does it, I suppose |
| [11:35:45] |
<BrianHV> |
I haven't looked at the implementation, but I suspect there's nothing special about a "group." I would assume it just traces roles back until it hits a real permission |
| [11:36:41] |
<BrianHV> |
so you could think of a group is nothing more than a user that is used by other users to get permissions. if that makes sense. |
| [11:37:02] |
<retracile> |
pretty much. |
| [11:37:24] |
<retracile> |
You could even use a real user. |
| [11:37:51] |
<joel> |
so if i create a group - i can assign that group functionality (like wiki_admin) and then assign a person (ie bob) to that new group, and he gets all those permissions? |
| [11:38:23] |
<BrianHV> |
yes |

that worked. thanks Retracile and BrianHV - another question.. when i'm loged in as the admin - and making a ticket i don't see options to assign it to anyone -- but when I view the ticket the 'assign' section appears. Is this normal? |

<Dwarfoo7> |
where do you change in trac to use sqlite3 instead of pysqlite ? |
| [11:58:08] |

joel: yes, when creating a new ticket, you can't take actions on it... it doesn't exist yet. However, as admin you can set the assign to field in the properties. |

well a feature backlog is not exactly a task, are features we'll like to implement in a component or project |

and a backlog could have tasks associated with it |
