[02:22:47] <ekimus> hi, need to restructure our trac instances since we need multiple versions. by now my plan is to (using apache2.2 with mod_python and a custom trac install): 1. change apache config (add PythonPath to use the correct version), 2. install additional trac versions into /opt/trac-$version, 3. move the trac installed at site-packages to /opt/trac-$version, 4. restart apache - anything i forgot? (this needs to work it's a live site with about 20 trac projects)

[03:29:51] <MetalPig> as if it wanted to! :o
[03:30:41] <coderanger_pad> This chan is about Trac, not radiant
[03:31:50] <MetalPig> I know
[03:31:53] <MetalPig> I just wanted to whine

[03:41:24] <Tartaros> "omg I can't installzor trac! halp!"
[03:42:12] <coderanger_pad> those are pretty common

[04:09:41] <chx> sorry 0.10.4
[04:10:04] <chx> I discovered a site_newticket.cs but I have not found docs on the structure of it
[04:10:27] <coderanger_pad> try /newticket?description=foo
[04:11:11] <chx> uh that'll be a horribly long URL... sure I can do.
[04:14:07] <chx> coderanger_pad: sorry .. but where do I change the navigation bar? I am so n00b :/
[04:15:00] <coderanger_pad> You don't, youll have to put a link on the front page or something
[04:15:06] <chx> Ah.
[04:15:13] <chx> OK...
[04:15:35] <coderanger_pad> that feature was added in trunk though
[04:17:16] <chx> I added my list to site_newticket.cs as a HTML list and it worked

[05:05:22] <thatch> one sec
[05:05:54] <bjoe> ok
[05:05:56] <thatch> bjoe: what version of trac are you running?
[05:06:11] <thatch> dpkg -l | grep trac
[05:06:23] * Tobi has joined #trac
[05:06:26] <thatch> (and how was the database created)
[05:06:30] <bjoe> ok
[05:07:02] <Tobi> hi. how can i create a project without the trac help wiki. or how can i delete all these wiki pages?
[05:07:23] <bjoe> 0.10.3-1
[05:08:20] <bjoe> thatch : 0.10.3-1
[05:09:28] <thatch> Tobi: I'm pretty sure they're created by default, but if you want to get rid of them the quickest way is edit the db: sqlite3 /path/to/trac.db 'delete from wiki;'
[05:09:46] <thatch> (but keep in mind that several places refer to that for help, like when editing a page it mentions WikiFormatting, etc
[05:10:09] <thatch> bjoe: where is the trac env from? was it created on the same machine, restored from a backup, etc?
[05:10:40] <evil_twin> New news from t.e.o: Ticket #540 (defect reopened): Permissions and RSS Feeds <http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/540#comment:48>
[05:11:46] <bjoe> same machine
[05:12:00] <bjoe> should I recreated it
[05:12:45] <thatch> bjoe: that's a goofy error to get... have you ever had a newer version of Trac on this machine?
[05:13:10] <thatch> yes, recreating it _should_ fix it but I'm wondering how it got that way in the first place.
[05:13:13] <bjoe> just did apt-get install trac
[05:13:38] <thatch> can you try>> sqlite3 /path/to/tracenv/db/trac.db "select value from system where name='database_version';"
[05:13:49] <thatch> and let me know that number?
[05:14:01] <thatch> (note it may be sqlite, not sqlite3, depending on what package is installed)
[05:14:12] <bjoe> ok
[05:14:59] * amir1641 is now known as amir
[05:16:39] * d0rt has joined #trac
[05:17:29] * coderanger_pad has quit IRC
[05:19:36] * tomkralidis has joined #trac
[05:19:52] <bjoe> it is sqlite:db/trac.db
[05:20:44] <thatch> bjoe: that path is relative to the trac environment dir, and we can't know which sqlite you have based on that line (trac switches automatically)
[05:21:27] <bjoe> ok I am doing apt-get install sqlite
[05:22:52] <thatch> bjoe: if you have pysqlite2, you need to apt-get install sqlite3
[05:23:11] <bjoe> ok
[05:23:54] <thatch> I am not familiar with what the Debian deps are anymore, so you're my eyes on this.
[05:26:44] <bjoe> what should be the db connection string for sqlite
[05:26:53] <thatch> what you have in trac.ini
[05:26:57] <thatch> is correct
[05:27:01] <bjoe> ok
[05:27:20] <thatch> if recreating the environment doesn't fix it, then I need you to peek in the db (from the command line) so we can figure out what's going wrong
[05:29:29] <bjoe> I am getting the same error
[05:30:06] <bjoe> Database new than trac version
[05:30:19] <bjoe> how do I get the db
[05:31:10] <thatch> where did you create the environment?
[05:31:17] <bjoe> I have already done apt-get install sqlite3
[05:31:47] <thatch> ok
[05:32:08] <thatch> There should be a directory somewhere with subdirs db/ and conf/... it might be in /var/trac ?
[05:32:18] <thatch> wherever you created the env, find that
[05:32:26] <thatch> the db is under there
[05:32:31] <thatch> brb
[05:32:41] <bjoe> ok
[05:35:44] <spike> hi, what's the bot being used in this channel? I'd to get something similar for my own project, I've seen one in ruby that does understand all the wiki:page ticket:#1 syntax
[05:36:00] * omry_ has quit IRC
[05:43:12] <bjoe> ok thanks. it working
[05:43:17] <bjoe> somehow
[05:43:28] <bjoe> still fixing
[05:44:11] * crschmidt has joined #trac
[05:44:42] <crschmidt> I'm trying to set up the trac-post-commit-hook in SVN, and running it, I get a traceback on trying to access self.env.abs_href
[05:45:08] <crschmidt> http://rafb.net/p/wMGZpy51.html
[05:45:21] <crschmidt> Error is:
[05:45:22] <crschmidt> 'Environment' object has no attribute 'abs_href'
[05:45:48] <crschmidt> annnnnnd I should have searched before asking.
[05:45:48] <crschmidt> Sorry.
[05:47:16] * hlb has joined #trac
[05:50:21] <prologic> how do you distribute a python package with setuptools AND
[05:50:30] <prologic> download/install setuptools if it's not installed
[05:50:58] <crschmidt> Hm. Now I'm actually more confused. #3515 is this report about it, but the fix that it used was removed later in favor of using methods from the trac code/config
[05:51:28] <thatch> prologic: not sure this is the best channel, but you can put ez_setup.py alongside setup.py... look at how Pygments is done
[05:51:34] <thatch> pygments.org
[05:51:50] <prologic> hehe
[05:51:51] <prologic> well #python certainly isn't he best place
[05:51:56] <prologic> bunch of n00bs over there ;/
[05:52:02] <prologic> or rather too many of them
[05:52:13] <prologic> thatch, I believe I followed the insturctions on doing this
[05:52:19] <prologic> however it doesn't seem to work on the windows platform
[05:52:25] <prologic> using the bdist_wininst target
[05:52:44] <prologic> ie: package up something -> python setup.py bdist_wininst
[05:52:53] <prologic> run the resulting installed .exe on a windows xp machine
[05:52:59] <prologic> and it just installs that package - not it's deps
[05:53:30] <thatch> prologic: I have no idea about Windows
[05:53:56] <prologic> k
[05:55:41] <thatch> Surely there's a channel for setuptools, or at least a mailing list
[05:55:45] <thatch> sorry I'm not much help on that front
[05:56:06] <prologic> ey nps
[05:56:10] <prologic> I"ll work it out eventually
[05:56:16] <prologic> there is no mailing list specifically for setuptools
[05:56:23] <prologic> they use the distutils list from python
[05:56:33] <prologic> and no specific channels for this too
[05:56:51] <prologic> I actually found a bug in the latest setuptools today at work that apparently had been fixed before but wasn't entirely fixed
[05:57:06] <prologic> a deve from peak fixed it quickly in a branch
[05:57:36] * tomkralidis has left #trac

[10:25:20] <lisppaste5> vlopes pasted "IncludeWiki" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/46668
[10:26:32] <thatch> vlopes: ... that's a different macro than you linked
[10:26:40] <thatch> the IncludeMacro works fine
[10:26:58] * boorad has quit IRC
[10:27:06] <pacopablo> vlopes: the IncludeWiki macro only includes wiki pages
[10:27:43] <retracile> pacopablo, thatch: you two are both working with buildbot... talk to each other. :)
[10:28:00] <pacopablo> retracile: about what?
[10:28:08] <thatch> pacopablo: I want to run a buildmaster just for trac
[10:28:09] <vlopes> hmm
[10:28:19] <pacopablo> thatch: yeah, I'd like to get that going too
[10:28:31] <thatch> so we can test lots of configurations, and I'm working with retracile to get it testing different server configs too
[10:28:34] <retracile> pacopablo: what you're doing, and if there is enough overlap that you could help each other.
[10:28:47] <pacopablo> if you want to host it, that's fine with me
[10:28:56] <pacopablo> I'd love to host a few of the buildslaves
[10:29:03] <thatch> vlopes: do you understand that you're trying to include a url in the wiki-only macro?
[10:29:18] <pacopablo> also, i have a vz dedicated for my current buildslave, so I can host it too, if you'd like
[10:29:48] <mOolight> why do trac need write permission to svn repo?
[10:29:54] <vlopes> actually, im trying to include a wiki page
[10:30:05] <pacopablo> mOolight: beacuse your svn repo uses berkdb
[10:30:11] <thatch> pacopablo: I vlopes not according to the traceback.
[10:30:12] <pacopablo> and berkdb sucks like that
[10:30:17] <thatch> Macro IncludeWiki(http://www.google.com/) failed
[10:30:33] <pacopablo> thatch: huh?
[10:30:43] <thatch> vlopes: ^^
[10:31:00] <thatch> lunch, I'll talk later pacopablo about how we can accomplish our goals w/o duplication
[10:31:00] <vlopes> yeah...but
[10:31:11] <pacopablo> thatch: sounds good
[10:31:42] <vlopes> ERROR: Macro IncludeWiki(ProjectTest) failed
[10:32:04] <pacopablo> vlopes: any traceback for that?
[10:32:04] <vlopes> and ProjectTest is also a trac wiki
[10:32:10] <vlopes> yeah, just a sec
[10:32:13] <vlopes> but is the same
[10:32:56] <lisppaste5> vlopes pasted "IncludeWiki" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/46669
[10:33:45] <pacopablo> http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/WikiIncludePlugin
[10:33:47] <pacopablo> use that one
[10:34:20] <vlopes> pacopablo: ok
[10:36:05] * lakin has quit IRC

[10:43:20] <Afrohealer> is it possible to use multiple password files o rmeans of authentication with trac?
[10:43:47] <Afrohealer> Eg .. We have local users on our ntwork .. adn would probalb jstu want to use LDAP or something similar for our local users ..
[10:44:06] <Afrohealer> but then also manually create acounts for our External clients..
[10:44:16] <pacopablo> Afrohealer: yes
[10:44:26] <pacopablo> but depends on how you're doing authentication
[10:44:53] <Afrohealer> I;m the one doing the setup . so i;m open to sugestion
[10:45:01] <pacopablo> if you're using apache, then you can specify multiple sources and use "satisfy-any" (or something like that)
[10:45:08] <Afrohealer> nice .
[10:45:26] <pacopablo> if you use account manager, you'll have to apply a patch, and then you can chain multiple password sotres
[10:45:30] <Afrohealer> Now if i can just get my Apache2 server to actualy startup .. I;ll be in heaven
[10:45:33] * serenao has joined #trac
[10:46:01] <Afrohealer> I'm using tracd for now .. until i can findout why Apahce2 does not work ..
[10:46:30] <Afrohealer> I'm saving that for a light-workload day .
[10:47:13] <pacopablo> well, you could go the tracd + nginx + acocunt manager method
[10:47:16] <pacopablo> works well
[10:47:40] <pacopablo> the benefit to account manager, is that you can then manage users via the webadmin interface
[10:47:58] <pacopablo> and you can use form based login to get true logout capability
[10:52:21] <The_Tick> account manager+webadmin is nice
[10:52:23] <The_Tick> very nice
[10:52:29] * The_Tick thinks it should ship with the product
[10:55:18] * tomfmason has joined #trac
[10:55:51] <Afrohealer> The_Tick; yup .. i;m loving the combination ..
[10:56:18] <Afrohealer> pacopablo: what is nginx?
[10:56:31] <The_Tick> Afrohealer: alternative to apache/lighttpd
[10:57:17] <Afrohealer> would one stil use mod_phython with that?
[10:57:57] <thomasvs> pacopablo: that reminds me, question - apparently when using multi backend account manager, deleting accounts doesn't work anymore
[10:58:04] <thomasvs> (if the account is for example in a htpasswd file)
[10:58:08] <thomasvs> pacopablo: ring a bell ?
[10:58:39] <tomfmason> I got trac up and running via mod_python with any problems. Well now I am having an issue with removing permissions for anonymous users. I used the following command trac-admin qualitycoders permission remove * anonymous afterwards I trac-admin qualitycoders permission list and it shows that anonymous still has all permissions. Any ideas or should I manually remove them one permission at a time
[10:59:17] <Afrohealer> tomsfmason: if u are using Webadmin .. u can remove all the permision from anonymouse
[10:59:35] <tomfmason> no I am using the cmd
[11:00:03] * candleman has joined #trac
[11:00:10] <Afrohealer> What i did was i created a group called LoggedIN and gave it all the permision i wanted my regular looged in users to have ...
[11:00:19] <Afrohealer> Than added that group to Authenticated ..
[11:00:34] <Afrohealer> Hmm .. i guess i could have just added those permisions to authenticated .. LOL
[11:01:27] <Afrohealer> then added LoggedIN users to the authenticated group .
[11:02:15] <mOolight> pacopablo: great, i convert them all to fsfs
[11:02:46] <retracile> tomfmason: 2 things to double check: probably need to specify anonymous, then "*". And your shell may be expanding the *, so put that in quotes.
[11:03:07] <tomfmason> oh ok
[11:03:35] <retracile> tomfmason: You'll probably also want to add those permissions to 'authenticated'
[11:03:45] <retracile> (so all logged in users get them)
[11:05:36] * Federico2 has joined #trac
[11:08:42] <tomfmason> retraclie: I get the following syntax error when I try trac-admin myproject permission remove anonymous "*"
[11:08:43] <tomfmason> *** Unknown syntax: remove 'anonymous' '*'
[11:09:33] <tomfmason> but when in switch the "*" and anonymous I get no errors but it don't remove the permissions
[11:10:01] <Afrohealer> run permission list to see what has changed ..
[11:10:03] <retracile> tomfmason: what version of trac?
[11:10:33] <tomfmason> 0.10.2
[11:11:05] <pacopablo> thomasvs: should work, but could very well be a bug
